About Marty:
Marty Criswell, a beloved citizen of Bryan and former head football coach and athletic director for Bryan High has made an indelible mark on our community. He and his wife of 53 years Monica, raised one beautiful daughter and gets to spoil 1 grandchild. Marty graduated from Austin High School in Houston in 1967 and from Texas Tech in 1971 playing football for both. His distinguished coaching career includes serving as head coach and athletic director for eleven years in Denison and twelve years at Bryan High. His teams appeared in the playoffs thirteen times, winning eleven district championships, and one coveted state championship.
Coach Criswell is a man of faith, grace, class, and humility. Texas coaches know and love Marty for his ability to develop lasting friendships even across rivalry lines. Throughout his tenure as head coach, Marty led his coaches and players by example keeping God and family first. He served as the president of the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) in 2000-2001 and was inducted into the THSCA Hall of Honor in 2006. Coach Criswell has a heart for building character in young players and coaches and serves to glorify Christ in all that he does. He continues to lead coaches’ Bible studies in Bryan and works extensively with FCA in the Brazos Valley.
