Who is Jesus Christ?

greatbigcross2.jpgWell, who did He say He was?

When Jesus speaks and says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), He claims what no other did.

When He says, “My sheep listen to my My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.  I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30), He speaks as no other does.

The Bible says that though God has revealed Himself to us through the prophets and the apostles, His climactic revelation of Himself is in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-2).

In the second chapter of the book of Philippians, the apostle Paul says this of Jesus:

Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.  Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

(verses 6-11)

Ok, so why do I need Jesus?
