First Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas, is a part of the Southern Baptist Convention. We hope you will visit us soon!
We are a church who desires to lead people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through our ministry model: believe, connect, share, and grow.
This model guides our ministries toward a comprehensive and cohesive effort to fulfill the overall mission of the church. It also helps each FBC Bryan family member determine their status in the discipleship process, offering insight in how to continue this lifelong journey of faith.
The first step in following Christ is to believe. If followers of Christ “confess with [their] mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in [their] heart that God raised him from the dead, [they] will be saved. For it is with [their] heart that [they] believe and are justified, and it is with [their] mouth that [they] confess and are saved” (Romans 10:9-10). The Bible teems with miraculous accounts, included “that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:30-31).
The word of God says we must confess Jesus is Lord. While some may believe him to be a good man, teacher, or prophet, we believe you must confess him as Lord of your life, admitting him as one and only sovereign of the world. The word of God also says we must believe with our whole heart, committing to the deepest level truth of God’s word as revealed and experienced.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lies by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” -John 11:25-26

Followers of Christ also are called to connect. While belief forges our connection with God, Christian fellowship with other believers strengthens that connection to God, our faith, and to each other.
God instilled in us the need for connection, the need for support in this spiritual journey. One way to seek out such connection is through active service in a local church. We see church membership as a natural outpouring of Christ-followers, expressed clearly in the New Testament:
“And Day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” -Acts 2:46-47
The fellowship we encounter with fellow Christians results as we share our lives with one another, enriching our lives, providing accountability, encouraging our walks of faith, and developing our Christian “family.”
FBC Bryan strives to offer opportunities for connection for a diverse range of needs, personalities, and walks of life. Please refer to our various ministries for upcoming events and chances to connect.
Christ’s time on earth was marked by a passion for teaching others Spiritual truths. He exhorted his followers to reject a stagnant, lukewarm life and to seek, instead, a dynamic, ever-increasing faith.
The overriding mandate of the church is to make disciples, followers of Christ on a lifelong journey of obedience to him. This journey results in the transformation of values and behaviors. We should be characterized by our Christlikeness (Ephesians 4:13), our sacrificial giving (Matthew 19:16-22 & Luke 14:25-33), and our continuous commitment to learning from our Savior (Matthew 11:29). Once we become disciples, our life—our mission—is forever changed, and we are called to share our Good News with others, making more disciples.
“And Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the ams of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:18-20
Our Sunday School, including Adult Bible Fellowships, and Small Groups are specifically crafted to encourage growth within our FBC Bryan Family. Make plans to join us!
Jesus sought to share his life and care for the needs of others everyday. As Christians, we strive to emulate our savior, making sharing an integral part of the ministry experience, here at FBC Bryan.
Mark 1:40-41 indicates that sharing involves meeting a need with a compassionate heart, a witnessing mouth, and a willing hand. We believe distributing food to those who need it is good, but we also need to be offering Jesus. We desire to be a church with sleeves rolled up, ready to enter the trenches of a wounded world, providing for eternal sustenance as well as physical needs and carrying the message of Jesus to our local community and the far corners of the globe.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” -Acts 1:8
