Family Dedication is a time when parents publicly express their commitment to raise their child(ren) in a home that honors Christ. Dedication is conducted as part of the Worship service to acknowledge the importance of being accountable to other Christians and to celebrate joyously with the Church Body. The Dedication centers on the parents’ commitment to raise their child(ren) to know the ways of the Lord, and for the church to pray and support the family as they grow. It is the prayer of all present that the child will come to one day know Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. - Deuteronomy 6:6-9
